Watson v. THC-Orange County, Inc. dba Kindred Hospital LA

Our attorneys achieved a settlement of $750,000 on behalf of the surviving children of an elderly woman who died shortly after suffering numerous injuries during her stay at a Kindred Hospital. As a result of continual neglect during her Kindred admission, the victim sustained a variety of injuries, including innumerable ulcers which caused her sacral bone to protrude from her skin, that lead to her death at White Memorial Medical Center just three weeks after leaving the Kindred facility. The facts showed that the victim received atrocious wound care and was malnourished and dehydrated throughout her stay. Furthermore, the hospital’s documentation was insufficient, as health records mandated by Federal and State law are missing, as was the mandatory documented Care Plan.  Despite Kindred’s poor documentation, our attorneys were able to show that the neglectful care and treatment the victim received at Kindred directly led to her wrongful death, and were therefore able to obtain damages attributable to neglect and abuse pursuant to the Dependent Adult Abuse Act.
